TIPS & INFO: Exteriors > What to Expect

Back to …
What to expect from Mr. Painterman –
  • Cooperation in giving you the best quality job in the most efficient manner.
  • Quality workmanship, including neat painting and no splatters on floors.
  • Cleaning of dirty surfaces & sanding prior to painting.
  • Minor clean up of floors, such as paint flakes and major dust.
  • There may be minor dust on furniture and windows (glass is not cleaned).
  • Blinds on windows removed and reinstalled.
  • Plug and switch plates removed and reinstalled.
  • Hardware removed as needed and reinstalled.
  • Cover up with new plastic of furniture and items placed on bed.
  • Large furniture moved away from walls and moved back (or left out so you can clean behind). We can’t come back at another day to move furniture back.
  • Everything cannot be placed back 100% perfect. Every attempt will be made to restore large items to their original place, but we don’t know your house like you do.
  • Cosmetic perfection is impossible and all expectations should be discussed prior to job inception. The job will turn out only as good as the surface we are painting.
  • Carpets will not be vacuumed and/or steam cleaned after job is completed.

  • What is expected from you, the customer –
  • Cooperation in giving you the best quality job in the most efficient manner.
  • Removal of all personal items in room like pictures & Knickknacks on furniture tops.
  • Clothing inside closets moved (if closets are included in contract) .
  • Clean up of your personal dust, debris and personal stuff.
  • Removal of attached furniture or shelving or disassembly of any furniture or computer hardware.
  • Light fixtures are not removed to paint - we don’t change light bulbs.
  • Little or no traffic from small children and/or pets during the painting process.
  • Allow us to control the heat and airflow during the job. Too much heat and not enough air will slow down the painting & drying process. We can’t work on ceilings if the thermostat is set at 70 or above, because it is hot up there. We typically find that 66 is a good temperature to use in many houses, while we are painting. We also will need a window or door open a bit for air flow. Without air flow, the paint will not dry quickly. If you are cold in the house while we are painting, we ask you to put on a sweater or do an errand. A cool worker is an efficient worker.

  • Negotiated items can be
  • Switch & plug plate removal/reinstallation.
  • Hardware removal/reinstallation.
  • Curtains, draperies and blinds removal/reinstallation.
  • Furniture moved from room to other rooms or garage, etc.

  • Going on vacation during interior painting is a great idea for both client and contractor.
